Eric Lindell at Capital Ale House

Eric Lindell's biggest accomplishment thus far has been his ability to win over the notoriously tough crowd of New Orleans. Earning the backing approval of Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, and having his gigs frequently feature War's Ivan Neville and Harold Brown with him onstage, Lindell is determined to expand his realm of approval beyond the Crescent City. On the road promoting his latest album, “Gulf Coast Highway” (which Moore appears on), the bluesman continues to solidify his unique blend of soul, funk and swamp pop. Revered on the bayou with his raspy, Van Morrison-compared voice, he's sure to find a few kindred spirits — if for nothing else than his plethora of tattoos — when he plays Capital Ale House on Friday, July 10, at 10 p.m. $13-$15. 623 E. Main St. 780-2537. — Laura Robertson
