Ellis Paul at Ashland Coffee and Tea

Friday, August 13

A key figure in revitalizing the national acoustic circuit in the '90s, Boston-based singer and songwriter Ellis Paul falls under the storyteller influence of such musical greats as Bob Dylan, James Taylor and Woody Guthrie. With a scratchy vocal tenor delivering lyrics full of literate romanticism, there's a drifting troubadour's wink underlying the first-person introspection of his work, particularly on his most famous song, “The World Ain't Slowin' Down.” On the road behind his latest album, “The Day After Everything Changed,” Paul is scheduled to play Ashland Coffee and Tea Friday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m. $16-$21.
