Defending Trani's Bronze Monument

Chris Dovi's piece about the statue of Eugene P. Trani was exceedingly petty and silly. During his tenure as president, Trani did an enormous amount of good for both Virginia Commonwealth University and the city of Richmond. As was written of Christopher Wren, “Reader, if you seek his monument, look around you.”

P.S. The children who are part of the Arthur Ashe monument are neither clambering nor clamoring, nor is Ashe preparing to power serve them. They are gathered around him listening as he speaks. Perhaps the author should drive out Monument Avenue and take a look.
