Corey Harris, Mighty Joshua and the Zion No. 5 and Lost Dreads at the Camel

Friday, Dec. 12

In an age defined by electronic gadgetry, Corey Harris makes human music. The flesh-and-bone intimacy of his traveled music is almost unsettling in its realism. The Denver-born guitarist, singer and songwriter blends American and African acoustic blues traditions with 1960s and ’70s Jamaican reggae to create a hybrid of confessional styles that’s all his own. Fans of Taj Mahal, Ali Farke Toure (Harris collaborated with the seminal Malian guitarist on his 2002 album, “Mississippi to Mali”), and Ernest Ranglin should find much to enjoy about Harris’ intuitive ability to do what’s best for a song. The show is Friday, Dec. 12, at the Camel. Local classic reggae merchants Mighty Joshua and the Zion No. 5 and Lost Dreads warm up the crowd. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10-$12. thecamel.org.
