The city is soliciting proposals for an outdoor public art project to accompany the planned Brown’s Island Dam Walk.
The city put out a call for artists on Tuesday, advertising a $200,000 budget for the project.
The city’s Public Art Commission suggests some themes for the work:
− Enhance the natural elements of the James River. − Create a destination or gathering place to draw people to the river. − Stimulate thought, conversation and creativity for viewers. − Reflect diversity of culture and heritage.
The deadline for submissions is Sept. 5, and the city is holding what it calls pre-submission informational webinar on Aug. 7.
