Carcass is the sound of brutal death. The British extreme-metal malcontents from Liverpool are the antithesis of the working-class port city’s most famous cultural exports. While the Beatles sang about wanting to hold your hand, Carcass wants to cut that hand off, let the appendage rot until it’s covered in maggots and then assemble a pernicious barrage of riffs about it. The group is a forefather of the heavy metal subgenre grind core, and its pummeling morbidity is executed with rancorous precision. Carcass’ 2013 release “Surgical Steel” features the group’s diacritic system of deviances honed to inexorable lengths. It makes Metallica sound like Katy Perry. The post-mortem examinations take place at the Broadberry on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Joining Carcass will be Tampa’s Obituary, San Jose’s Exhumed and Baltimore’s Noisem. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $25. thebroadberry.com.
