What started as a husband and wife duo playing simple romantic music quickly turned in a full band mixing gypsy swing and popular music that’s been winning over audiences across the country. The group’s free-feeling, charismatic performances have led to it opening for the likes of Emmylou Harris, the Decemberists, and Iron and Wine. The gypsy-jazz rhythms of Caravan of Thieves’ first two releases cemented the group as a must-hear by folk, pop, rock and jazz audiences. The group’s soon-to-be-released album, “The Funhouse,” already has people talking. Caravan of Thieves performs at Ashland Coffee and Tea on Saturday, May 12, at 8 p.m. $10-$15. 798-1702.
