Borrowing its moniker from the matriarchal maid in "To Kill a Mockingbird," the four-man band known as Calpurnia hasn't taken long to make a name for itself around town, frequenting the bills of local nightspots and festivals. Along with the novel written by Harper Lee, the group cites Oasis, The Black Keys and The Rolling Stones as influences, which is just as easy to hear in its hard-driving rock sounds. The group releases its first CD, "Glitz, Garter and a Dribble of Youth," Friday, May 23, and performs at The Camel that evening at 8:30 with At the Stars, Acalasia and Rome in a Day. $5. 353-4901.
