When: Fri., Nov. 3, 7-10 p.m. 2017
Baltimore painter Katya Villano showing in Richmond for limited time only at VALET Gallery. Villano is a trans-lesbian painter whose work focuses on the relationship between longing, shame and desire. She is a graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art and a 2017 finalist for the visual arts fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center. Villano’s show will consist of paintings ranging from miniature to 50 inches tall. The works will seek to explore the fluidity of femininity in the trans body. Villano’s paintings are venues for fluidity, where color, sensation, womanhood, and power need no declarations or definitive engagements.
