Comfort came to this part of West Broad Street when the metaphorical tumbleweeds rolled past a few brave galleries down the street. Its success drew others, but only Jason Alley’s solid standards that Southern mothers used to make will warm those cold nights — and any other when a little indulgence is necessary. The mac ’n’ cheese is a must, the meatloaf is memorable and if you’re suffering from a broken heart, I prescribe its crème brûlée masquerading as banana pudding at least once a week until you’re on the mend.
