Second Place: Gwar
Third Place: Rosie Soul and the Rock and Roll Cowboys
It's a good time to be Lamb of God. The band's latest album, "Resolution," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard rock chart when it was released in January 2012, and its track "Ghost Walking" received a Grammy nomination for best hard rock or metal performance. Hell, it even had its own iPhone app available to let you mutilate your voice. But the biggest band news was vocalist Randy Blythe being acquitted of all charges related to that manslaughter case in the Czech Republic. There's no denying the influence that Lamb of God, formerly Burn the Priest, has over Richmond, and the group's rabid fans have stood by their hometown band. The costumed theatrics, musical slaughter — and brilliant news releases, we might add — by veterans Gwar earn continual accolades. And Rosie Soul and the Rock and Roll Cowboys nab the third-place spot in the voting.
