Bass player Justin Doyle and guitarist and vocalist Pat Keefe moved to Richmond and started playing as a duet about three years ago. “The camaraderie and support by local bands that I looked up to before moving here was special,” Keefe says. “I never felt intimidated or rivaled.” Soon they added Keegan Lemke on mandolin, guitar and vocals, and Andrew Sisk on percussion. Whether slow and sensual or quick and gritty, the folk group is making a name for itself with its live shows. Also, Sisk and Keefe are part of the house band that hosts open mic at Cary Street Café every Tuesday. It’s kept them on their toes, Keefe notes, whether “learning songs with people on the fly, or adding our style to other people’s original songs.”
