Best Record Store Makeover

Ever since things went digital, people seem less interested in buying CDs, and record stores have suffered as a result, while vinyl continues its comeback as a niche market. So it probably was inevitable that local living legend Plan 9 Music, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, would need to downsize. It did so simply by moving across the street in Carytown (to 3107 W. Cary St.) into a smaller store that was the former Pirouzan Oriental rugs shop. It’s still shopping for a permanent home, but the current location looks pretty good. Homey and full of vinyl — but don’t give up totally on CDs! Vinyl is great but it’s hell to store and move. Besides, everything comes back around.
