Second Place: Science Museum of Virginia
Third Place: Children's Museum of Richmond
It's unsurprising that voters pick VMFA the best museum after the multiyear remodeling that turned it into a top-10 museum destination, attracting visitors from far beyond the Commonwealth. With such wide-ranging crowd-pleasers as "Hollywood Costume," the hopping weekly Jazz Café series, studio classes (believe it or not, for infants on up), artist talks and gallery tours, the Virginia Museum is determined to prove to Virginians that this truly is our art. Your tax dollars support it financially, kids, so you may as well enjoy it. Coming in second, the Science Museum delivers endless ways to question the world and offers giant movies on the Imax screen. The Children's Museum comes in third with its multiple museums and family friendly attractions. Aren't the kids always bringing up the rear?
