Yes, it's a chain, albeit a Virginia one, and yet voters consider it a top Mexican choice locally — no doubt because the nachos, burritos, enchiladas and tableside guacamole are top-notch and served with a smile. Those who've lived closer to the border may quibble with Plaza Azteca's Americanized take on Mexican food, but with multiple locations, you're never far from a good fix. Mexico, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, brings its tacos to the masses with a wide range of locations — from Sandston to Short Pump, with a stop in Woodlake — and some of the speediest service in town. Newcomer Lalo's Cocina wins over diners with its generously sized portions, abundant corn options for the gluten-intolerant and an interesting assortment of meatless ones for vegetarians.
