Best Local Restaurant for Takeout

Readers' Pick

First place:

401 Strawberry St.

Second place: Joe’s Inn
Third place: Chicken Fiesta
Honorable mention: Yen Ching

Across the city, a cheer went up when 8 ½ on Strawberry Street announced that as of June 15, it was resuming full its posted hours daily. Hallelujah and pass the cannoli.

Like the readers who voted it tops in takeout, people with a hankering for a meatball hero, eggplant parmigiana or a white pizza with anchovies was thrilled to have their full access to 8 ½ restored. We’ll likely never see the packed 8 ½ of yore with crowds shoulder-to-shoulder awaiting their orders, but life goes on. Changes nod to the new normal with one person at a time allowed in, a switch to credit cards only and no inside dining, but you can still snag a bottle of wine to go with your Italian eats.
