It’s always a good sign when you walk into a doughnut shop and see the dough being made in the back room. From éclairs and apple fritters to jelly-filled doughnuts and cinnamon rolls, Style readers made it clear that they prefer to get their doughnut fix at Country Style.

Owner Wafaa Nasserddine thinks the reason is a combination of good cooks and a good product. “We put all our efforts into making the best doughnuts and pleasing people,” she says. “We’ve been doing it a long time and people love their favorites.” Glazed are the most popular but Country Style’s Boston Cream doughnuts are a close second. Anything with icing flies out the door, according to Nasserddine.

When the pandemic first hit, business slowed noticeably and there were days the shop closed early. But interest has rebounded and it’s back to its former schedule of 24 hours a day every day except Monday.

“Some days were very slow and some days were just fair,” she recalls. “But we just kept going.”
