Bombshell is having a big year. Owners Scott and Melissa Black, who struck candy-colored pay dirt in Carytown in 2009, opened a third salon on the South Side in January. They're opening their fourth later this year in the most logical place a salon inhabited by the spirit of Bettie Page can: Las Vegas, baby. Scott Black, a born salesman, says he courted Zappos executive Tony Hsieh, who agreed to invest in a new salon in the old downtown Vegas strip. "He loved it," Black says. "It's unique. It's sustainable." And in a city full of exposed flesh, it doesn't hurt that Bombshell made its name in waxing. The salon has its own waxing technique and is just launched Melissa's product. Chocolate-scented wax, anyone? Mango Salon is a West End favorite offering a wide range of services, including eyebrow threading, and strong customer outreach. Imago makes its name cutting curly hair and getting it just right.
