Though the concept of crowd-funding usually is associated with online iterations such as Kickstarter, offline versions have been flourishing too. Inspired by a Brooklyn organization, Josh Epperson and Johnny Hugel founded Richmond’s FeastRVA in October 2011. It invites Richmonders to a $25 dinner at a local venue where they eat, drink and then vote on a variety of pitches for creative ideas by the night’s contestants — the proceeds going to the winner to help fund the concept. You can support the next winner or become one by visiting feastrva.com.
