Adolf Jewelers

1537 Parham Road

Second Place: Fink’s Jewelers

Third Place: Schwarzschild Jewelers

Ronnie Adolf is proud his store is that rare, local, fine-jewelry store still owned by Richmond family. He’s proud it’s been in business for 50 years, nearly all that time in the same location — though it’s tripled in size. But Adolf is most proud to say that most of his store’s employees go back with the company — not years, but decades. “Wouldn’t you love if you could go someplace for anything where someone has waited on you for 10 years and just knows your style?” he asks. “We have that with our customers and it’s a really unusual thing in retail business.” At Fink’s, manager Steve Pridgen is happy to report, “Everything is really selling. We are definitely seeing an uptick in old buying habits.” The luxury watch market — Rolex, Cartier and TAG Heuer — is especially hot, he says. Schwarzschild is a grand Richmond tradition, a venerable fine-jewelry company. And while it’s no longer locally owned, it continues to cultivate loyal customers at three locations.
