Petersburg native W. Baxter Perkinson, a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia's Dental School in the 1970s, has practiced dentistry in the Richmond area for more than four decades. Through the years his practice, Dr. Baxter Perkinson & Associates, has grown to 11 locations and almost 300 employees. Perkinson also gives back — a lot. In addition to the work he does with his dental practice, Perkinson previously served as rector on Virginia Commonwealth University's Board of Visitors, which he still serves, in addition to VCU Health System's board. The key to the practice's success, says Chris Jefferson, who works at the Huguenot Road location: "Simply put, they will take care of all of your family's dental needs under one roof." Murry & Kuhn Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, with locations in Midlothian and Powhatan, provides flat screen monitors, so a movie or television show is available to provide a much-needed distraction if the occasion calls for it. Brown Reynolds Snow, which has locations on Patterson and Ridgefield Parkway, offers a wide array of procedures, including oral cancer screenings, porcelain crowns, veneers, whitening and implants. In addition, it offers offer hot chocolate and tea in the waiting area, although adding too much sugar likely will be frowned upon.
