Second Place: The Jefferson Hotel
Third Place: Can Can Brasserie
Millie’s Diner’s devil’s mess, a beguiling concoction of eggs, avocado, spicy sausage and tomatoes, has been a brunch staple for more than 20 years — and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. You might have to wait a little for a table at one of Richmond’s favorite weekend spots, but when you see the specials board, all that impatience instantly disappears. Brunch isn’t an afterthought here. Millie’s brings everything out that it does at dinner: a rainbow of flavors and fresh ingredients that have been locally sourced since the get-go. In second place, the Jefferson Hotel transforms its huge lobby at the bottom of the staircase into a brunchgasm of carving stations, mountains of seafood, extravagant french toast toppings and ice sculptures. And eggs Benedict never tasted better than atop toasted brioche made onsite in Can Can’s bakery.
