Second Place: Peter Chang China Café
Third Place: P.F. Chang's China Bistro
Richmond shows its support for the truly local in this category, leaving the big boy and the chain as runners-up. Mekong isn't fancy, can be ear-splittingly loud and puts as much emphasis on beer as food, but that's all right by us. It's a party in the back and good taste on the plate. Including banh mi tom chien and pho, the food is solid and the place is fun. Despite long waits to eat, Peter Chang has brought a national reputation to town with his Sichuan-style Chinese dishes, stellar food in a strip mall. The P.F. Chang's chain offers a reliably safe take on Asian.
