You do something for 46 years, you must be getting something right. Arts in the Park combines a nationally rated, juried art show with a day in the park. Thank you, Carillon Civic Association. First Fridays Art Walk is a see-and-be-seen monthly ritual — or as Candela Gallery owner Gordon Stettinius puts it, “The high holy day for the arts district.” Part promenade and part gallery hopping, it’s a place where Richmonders know they can convene to enjoy the latest art offerings. Emily Smith of 1708 Gallery sees it as an invaluable part of audience development because of the crowd’s diversity, she says: “That’s the A-1 reason to continue doing it.”
