Second Place: Pink Tie Gala for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Central Virginia Affiliate

Third Place: Children’s Hospital Foundation Ball

The Fur Ball has the appeal of getting all dolled up alongside your favorite canine companion. We’ve always said that the only way to make it any better would be to have a doggie afterparty at Barker Field. The Richmond SPCA’s annual fundraiser scores for the ease of getting a date — chances are Fido is free that Saturday — and because it’s a major fundraiser for nonprofit’s work caring for and rehabilitating sick, injured and homeless animals. The Pink Tie Gala, which is going for a Roaring ’20s flapper ball theme this year, raises money for breast cancer research, public awareness and grants. And the Children’s Hospital Foundation Ball marks its 53rd year in November.
