Second Place: Acupuncture Center of Richmond
Third Place: Advanced Wellness Centre
The number of ways to feel great is growing. There's acupuncture, chiropractic services, nutrition awareness and exercise. Voters say the best is a shop near Willow Lawn founded by David A. Berv, a chiropractor and sports medicine specialist who opened the outlet in 1998. The busy Berv has helped local groups as the Richmond Kickers, Renegades and Ballet and serves as an adviser for amateur and professional golfers, for whom he's developed a patented software therapy package. "I started getting more involved with acupuncture about four or five years ago so I've cut back a bit," he says, "but I still help athletes." Berv says there was little in the way of alternative health services when he started his company 17 years ago, but he's happy to see growth. Two other notables include Acupuncture Center of Richmond, located near Chesterfield Towne Center and in Mechanicsville, and Advanced Wellness Centre, which offers an array of services in a 10,000-square-foot center.
