Art in a Time of Urgency: Paintings by Romare Bearden and Norman Lewis

When: Thu., Feb. 23, 5 p.m. 2017

A discussion exploring the decision by two African American artists to respond to the 1960s Civil Rights Movement in the most robust and concerted ways they could imagine. As the talk examines the roles of artists and their art in our own exceptionally trying time, it also asks about the responsibilities of all citizens (not just U.S. residents) as each of us faces a world-wide sweep of fundamentalist/potentially fascistic change.

Price: Free.
