Hatch Show Print of Nashville, Tenn., is one of the nation’s oldest working letterpress and printing shops. Its posters have promoted music concerts, football games, vaudeville shows, state fairs and pretty much anything related to American pop culture. Richmond gets a firsthand look at this historic marvel with the recently opened exhibit “American Letterpress: The Art of Hatch Show Print.” Organized by the Smithsonian Institution and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, this traveling exhibit celebrates the American graphic-art tradition and includes original posters, hand-carved wooden printing blocks, text panels and labels. “American Letterpress” runs at the Library of Virginia’s exhibition hall through Saturday, Feb. 4. Free. 692-3500.
