America at War: October 1942

When: Tue., Oct. 25, 10:30-11:30 a.m. 2022

America had been at war for ten months. The Battle of Guadalcanal was raging in the Pacific and the Battle of Stalingrad was underway in Eastern Europe. Draft age in America dropped from twenty to eighteen. Men and women flocked to work in factories to support the war effort. Tire companies introduced synthetic rubber and Kodak presented V-mail. Virginia War Memorial Director of Education, Jim Triesler, will share ads and articles from Life Magazine to discuss how America mobilized for war during October 1942.
