Got ants in your pants and need to dance? You’re in luck, because Richmond plays host to a dual-entertainment tribute to the Godfather of Soul this weekend. Start the evening at Bow Tie Cinema’s Movieland at Boulevard Square for the premiere of “Get on Up,” the new James Brown biography produced by Mick Jagger, starring Chadwick Boseman as the hardest working man in show business. Afterward, it’s only a few blocks to the Broadberry, where you can turn it loose with vocalist Kelli Strawbridge. He’ll be channeling the sweaty spirit of the late, great sex machine with Richmond’s premiere James Brown tribute act, the Big Payback. The 10-piece will be joined by hometown favorites Black Girls and the Green Boys, who open the show. The double feature goes down Friday, Aug. 1, and Broadberry doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10-$12, or $8 with a ticket stub from the movie. thebroadberry.com.
