What's most inspiring about the people you see on the following pages might be what isn't visible: The long hours, personal investments, sweat and tears. The friends, family members and mentors who fired them up along the way. The coworkers who encouraged them. The difficult conversations, debates and negotiations. The obstacles that stood in their paths. The questions they asked. The challenges they overcame. And perhaps most important, the hundreds of young men and women across the city whose work, creativity and change they symbolize. The potential they represent is testament to a city full of promise. — Jason Roop
