1619: The Origins of Modern Virginia

This year marks the 400th anniversary of three important events at Jamestown that shaped our modern society in Virginia. That year saw governmental reform in the colony, with the meeting of the first representative assembly in North America. Later that year the first Africans arrived in the colony. Finally, the first large group of women set foot in Virginia, changing the demographics of the colony. Join historian Bert Dunkerly as he explores the details of these events and their legacy today.
