The original tasting room of The Veil Brewing Company's spot in Scott’s Addition is closing after a two-day "Last Hurrah" party this weekend.
But beer fans needn’t worry too much, because the brewery is opening a new home just three blocks away at 1509 Belleville St., near Tang & Biscuit, on Saturday, April 22. That should be a fun party, too.
According to an older press release, the "new flagship location will feature an 8,262 square foot taproom, three times the size of [the] current space .... an expansive patio, event space, gender-neutral restrooms, and a brand new in-house food concept, Nokoribi (@nokoribirva)."
Amber Nowlin, director of photography and social media with Veil, says they still brew the beer for all four of their locations at the original location at 1301 Roseneath Rd. -- and it was time to expand. “We just kind of ran out of room and want to brew more beer. We want to do more things, we want to knock out the tasting room, build some offices, put more tanks in,” she says.
To celebrate the closing of this original hotspot, the brewery is throwing a “Last Hurrah: Scott’s Addition 1.0” on Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16. “We're going to have a ton of cellared bottles for sale [and] a lot of cellar drafts for sale,” says Nowlin. “So, a lot of vintage kegs from anniversaries past and different things like that.”
The Veil opened in April of 2016. So besides throwing a block party the following week to celebrate the new location, Nowlin says it’ll also be a party to celebrate their anniversary.
Veil Brewing Company’s Last Hurrah is on Saturday, April 15 from noon until 10 p.m. and on Sunday, April 16 from noon until 9 p.m. at 1301 Roseneath Rd, Richmond, VA, 23230 in Scott’s Addition.
