  • Amy Ayers plans to open the new Julep's on East Grace Street at the end of May.

For Julep's New Southern Cuisine owner Amy Ayers, 13 is her lucky number. Her restaurant will move from its location on the corner of North 18th and East Franklin streets to a spanking new spot in the old Shield's Shoes building on the same East Grace Street block as Pasture.

The bar will be much longer and the space will be bigger, with a more modern design. Big menu changes aren't planned but there will be a few additions and minor tweaks, as well as an updated bar program. "The new bar and lounge area is a real opportunity for us because the space is larger and can accommodate more patrons than our current location," Ayers said in a press release. "I’m also excited to be a part of the revitalization of the Grace Street corridor, which has become a mecca for great restaurants in the region.”

Ayers will close the original Julep's on May 13 and reopen its new doors at the end of the month, in time to celebrate the restaurant's 13th anniversary.
