Victory Farms, one of the region's largest organic farms, is pulling out of the 17th Street Farmers' Market after experiencing a major decrease in business.

The Mechanicville-based produce vendor sent out an e-mail to its customers this week explaining the decision.

“After long discussions over the lack of patronage at the 17th Street Market --which has dropped drastically in attendance even from its lackluster performance last season -- we have realized that we are losing money and jeopardizing the other markets by continuing there,” the e-mail reads.

The news comes as another blow to the city's oldest farmers' market, which has struggled to maintain relevance as a flurry of neighborhood markets began cropping up a few years ago. Victory Farms, which was open at 17th Street on Thursday mornings, also announced the addition of a new booth at Monument Market in the First Baptist Church parking lot at Monument Avenue and Robinson Street on Saturdays.
