The RVA Environmental Film Festival, founded in 2008 as The Biggest Picture and revived in 2011, brings a collection of entertaining and educational films to the Byrd Theatre to increase awareness of environmental problems locally and globally. On tap are “Chasing Ice,” a documentary on the evidence of global warming, “Mother Nature’s Child,” about the worth of exposing children to nature to promote psychological development, and “Clean Bin Project,” about a couple who challenge each other to produce no waste. Also scheduled are “Greenfire,” the story of environmentalist Aldo Leopold, and “The Big Fix,” a documentary of crimes associated with the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The RVA Environmental Film Festival takes place at the Byrd Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 9, and Sunday, Feb. 10. Free. Full list of films and show times at rvaenvironmentalfilmfestival.com.
