Country music wasn't always what it is today. Before the pop artists came in and diluted the music, the genre was run by outlaws, desperadoes and cowboys. Texan Dale Watson is a throwback to that era, right down to his basic black wardrobe. Despite his classic sound and style, the guitarist eschews the "country" label, given the modern definition of the term. He calls his music "Ameripolitan," and it sounds like country music used to. Watson performs at Shenanigan's Sunday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. $12-$15. 264-5010.
