Virginia casting director Jeanne Boisineau says casting agents will be especially looking for men between ages 18 and 40 “with really interesting, really neat character faces.” But, she continues, “we want everyone to come, even if they don’t look like they’ve been starving on a ship for a while.” Around 40 core extras — mostly Native Americans but also some Europeans — will be hired to work every day for the four months the film will be in production. The rest — Boisineau says it could be thousands — will typically work a day or two as needed.
The Charles City casting calls June 4-5 will be held that Friday at the Charles City County Social Center, 8320 Ruthville Road, and Saturday at Charles City County High School, 10039 Courthouse Road. The Richmond open calls June 11-12 will be held at the Shops at Willow Lawn. All four take place from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. A nonreturnable photograph is required.
Don’t worry if you’re not called back right away, Boisineau says. People will be needed through October, and “could get the call anytime.” — Wayne Melton
