Our annual snapshot of Richmond’s most powerful people is built on the principle that a community is served well by knowing who has command of its resources.

For a dozen years, we’ve used a combination of criteria to measure that power, asking: Who has the leadership, persuasive skills and connections to drive change? Who has control over money, political forces and economic drivers? Who is leveraging their resources and marshalling formal and informal powers to shape the area?

The answers offer insight into how Richmond can make things happen.
