Senator Questions Whether Legal Weed in Virginia Would Make the Redskins Better

GOP colleague concludes there are “not enough drugs in the world."

There’s been a lot of snickering about the fact that the two teams set to compete in the Super Bowl this Sunday both come from states that recently legalized marijuana.

So maybe it’s not surprising that when a Republican state senator took to the floor of the Senate yesterday to invite his colleagues to a Super Bowl party, a Democrat used the opportunity to question whether the state might want to consider legalizing the drug in an effort to boost the Redskins’ dismal prospects.

Fairfax Sen. Dick Saslaw, at 1:00 in the above clip: “Mr. President, on a slightly lighter note, I listen with interest to the personal privilege by the senior senator from Virginia Beach and I was wondering if he would want to comment on the fact that both Denver and Seattle come from the only two states that have legalized marijuana, and would that -- if we did that in Virginia -- fix the Redskins’ problems?”

Sen. Frank Wagner, a Virginia Beach Republican, responded with laughter: “I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world to fix that problem.”
