Since its inception in the late 1950s, Jamaican ska has been played to make people move. Skaladdays, the annual holiday concert organized by Murphy’s Kids, features bands that generate body movement for charity. Under the loose banner of ska, the lineup includes Eastern Stand Time from Washington, Signal Fire from Wilmington, N.C., and Philadelphia’s Among Criminals. They share the stage with hometown favorites the No BS! Brass band, Murphy’s Kids and the theatrical punk comedy of 6TA. All proceeds from the show will benefit WRIR-97.3 FM. Attendees are asked to bring canned foods, blankets and coats for Richmond’s Food Not Bombs and the Central Virginia Food Bank to distribute to those in need. Skaladdays is Saturday, Dec. 21, at Kingdom. Doors open for the all-ages show at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door with $2 off admission with a charitable donation.
