Watch classic silent films with a live musical complement. For this installment of the sound-visual series, the music comes from Classical Revolution RVA, the taking-it-to-the-streets, classical collective organized by Richmond Symphony second-chair violinist Ellen Cockerham. The film is the revolutionary Todd Browning-directed, 1927 horror film, “The Unknown.” It stars Lon Chaney as carnival knife thrower Alonzo the Armless, and Joan Crawford as the barely clothed carnival girl of his troubled affection. The pairing of the still-seriously creepy and classical is a horror-movie fan’s dream. The Silent Music Revival is Sunday, Oct. 20, at Gallery5. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is free. gallery5arts.org.
