The release of a Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings album is always cause for celebration. Even more so, given the singer’s successful surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her bile duct in June. Steady Sounds celebrates the release of her Daptone album, “Give the People What They Want,” with a brunch listening party Sunday, Jan. 5. Church Hill’s Proper Pie Co. will serve its crowd-pleasing savory pastries, WRIR-FM DJs Michael Murphy and Jason Hamlin will spin funky tunes on vinyl, and one lucky guest will walk away with a signed test pressing of the much-anticipated release. Steady Sounds also will take advance of orders of the record, scheduled for release Jan. 14. Everyone who signs up will receive a free, limited-edition, colored vinyl 45 from the album. The festivities begin at noon. Free. steadysounds.com.
