Shades of Grey, Men’s Edition

comment

I just finished your commentary of "Fifty Shades of Grey", and thought that it was a rather interesting take, coming from a male perspective. I like how you were up front with your view and didn't mince words. Your grasp on the fact that your mom has just about completed the trilogy and your having to face the fact that she had to "do the do" in order for you to be here and it had better have been her first and last time was priceless. Hilarious! Thank you for that laugh.

So you're gonna let a bad writer define a generation? "Fifty Shades of Grey" appears to have touched something missing in "modern women." If you want to understand the history of the American woman, read Betty Freidan's "The Feminine Mystique." A great book. Per your recommendation, I read "Tropic of Cancer," and that is a very masculine view of the world. Your writing gravitates that way. So are you ready to write the masculine response to "Shades"? Nothing that is important is easy to do. Don't try to write something that you think others will like; write honesty, write truth, and write to create art. The rest will fall into place.
