Their perhaps inevitable pairing comes to the Canal Club, Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Corey Harris and the 5 X 5 Band at the Modlin Center

Featured in Martin Scorsese's blues documentary for PBS, Corey Harris' search for the prototypical blues sound took him from Mississippi to Mali in Africa and on tour with B.B. King and Dave Matthews. His quest for the source takes him and his Charlottesville-based band to the Modlin Center Friday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5-$28. 289-8980.

The Kennedys at Ashland Coffee and Tea

They met at Austin's famous Continental Club, had a date by Buddy Holly's grave and traveled the world in Nanci Griffith's band. Theirs is a romance forged by music, and they bring that love affair to Ashland Coffee and Tea Friday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
