Earth Day and John McCutcheon at Ashland Theater

As well-traveled as this folk musician is, he's probably a pretty good representative for Earth Day. He works his way around the big subjects like peace and the connection of all living things with wit, a spectrum of instruments and a storytelling style that has been compared to Garrison Keillor's. Campbell & Costa with Jim Lloyd open the show, April 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18-$20. 798-9365.

Sin City Revival CD Release at Alley Katz

This seven-piece packs a lot of Southern rock under its revival tent. The driving, slightly dirty guitar sound is rounded out by the chorus of voices lending support to this fast-paced, not-quite-holy music. Sin City Revival plays a release party for their self-titled album April 22 at 9 p.m. The Octane Saints and Fletcher Bridge open. $5. 643-2816.

Hella, Out Hud, Tulsa Drone and Planar at Nanci Raygun

This show promises to be a sideshow of sound, from Hella's schizophrenic screech-rock to the psychedelic-dance-groove-by-way-of-punk of Out Hud to Tulsa Drone's lonely, lost railroad instrumental work and minimalist guitar-driven Planar. That's a lot of mutated rock to pack into one place April 20, starting at 6 p.m. $8.
