Sound can weed out people faster than any other creative expression. And that’s why I like it. While people can simply turn away from a visual they find unappealing or turn off a media device that fails to elicit interest, sound has the ability to truly bum people out. Case in point: RVA Noise Fest, the continuing series of antagonistic audio exploits organized by Gary Stevens and Matt Boettke happening Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Gallery5. It will be overflowing with great big bummers guaranteed to severely bum out normals. With groups and performing entities sporting such names as Negative Gemini, Insomniacrobats and Dumb Waiter, this isn’t a night for the faint of heart. It’s a glorious evening of beating and beating the faint of heart with ruthless, devious intent. Sounds like a good time to me. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free, donations accepted. gallery5arts.org.
