The VCU Department of Dance and Choreography and VCUarts Cinematheque present the German dance documentary “Pina,” about choreographer Pina Bausch. During the preparation of the documentary, Bausch died unexpectedly and instead of scrapping the film, the other dancers of Tanztheater Wuppertal dance company convinced director Wim Wenders to continue it. “Pina” features interviews with Bausch’s original company members, who talk about her life and perform some of her best-known pieces, including works such as “Café Müller,” “Le Sacre du Printemps” and “Kontakthof” inside the Tanztheater Wuppertal and in various outdoor locations around the city of Wuppertal. The film has become an official selection of the Berlinale, Telluride, Toronto and New York film festivals, as well as Germany’s 2012 official entry for the Oscar for best foreign language film. “Pina” screens at the Grace Street Theater on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. Free. arts.vcu.edu/dance.
