Best known as the frontman for alternative roots rock band Drive-By Truckers, singer and songwriter Patterson Hood’s music focuses on country and rock ’n’ roll influences that strike a chord with a diverse group of fans. 2001’s “Southern Rock Opera” garnered the Truckers nationwide critical acclaim, which helped earn the band a record contract and rave reviews for its follow-up album, “Decoration Day.” Throughout the Drive-By Truckers’ career, Hood also wrote and recorded acoustic material that was considerably darker than most of his work for the group. 2004 saw the release of Hood’s “Killers and Stars” and brought with it a flock of fans captured by Hood’s songwriting talent. Patterson Hood performs at the John Marshal Hotel on Friday, June 15, at 8 p.m. $15-$35. 554-1929.
