One of the biggest bands that Charlottesville, if not the whole of Virginia, loves to claim, the Dave Matthews Band has spent close to 20 years filling stadiums with its genre-blending mix of jam-band rock, jazz and funk. While the band's more recent studio records (“Everyday,” “Busted Stuff,” “Stand Up”) have had a tendency to highlight a more polished pop sound, after enduring the accidental death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore, the group reclaimed the looseness of their long-standing live identity with last year's “Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King.” Possibly the best album produced by the band thus far, the record's muscled effort pays a fitting tribute to Moore. Perhaps because members decided to not tour in 2011, the first time they've ever taken a year off, Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to perform two shows at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. $65-$75. 800-745-3000.
